Had a very nice Mothers Day 2014 lunch here. Excellent service even thought it was busy, the food presentation was excellent, one of the best in Canberra. The wine recommendation suited the food perfectly, a dry Viognier, I would have had a semi sweet wine, but I do think this better suited the food. I had the Angel prawns and pork ribs, both perfect in my opinion. My wife (Mother of honour) had the scallops (her favourite) with pigs ear strips and said they were excellent. I tried one and the pigs ear gave them a hint of bacon which didn't overpower the scallops. She had the fish which was also very nice. My girls shared a satay chicken and both liked their mains (they like spicy food). We just had room for dessert and they didn't disappoint. It was not cheap, but personally felt I got good value for money for a Sunday Mother's Day lunch. Highly recommend it to others. Car parking at Kingston Foreshore can be a problem so allow time to get there.

Food was great. Not too expensive. however, tables and seats were uncomfortable and it took way too long to get the food.

Never tried. But Sydney standard attracts me.

I ordered my laksa with egg noodle instead of hokkien and they said that they couldn't do that. That's just ridiculous.

Very tasty Thai. Try the roast duck red curry, it's fantastic. Friendly staff and good service.

Decent food but slow service during peak, especially for take away (20 minutes +).

The new decoration has really improved the place and now they deserve 5 stars

Charlie's Sala Thai is something of an institution in Tuggeranong, it has been winning awards since 2004. The restaurant is across the road from the Hyperdome and so parking is easy. Inside it looks like most Thai restaurants - unpretentious layout with an array of Thai and Buddhist pictures (and the Thai Royal Family, of course!). I took my family there for dinner to escape Christmas leftovers. There were 9 of us so we ordered the $30 banquet. While the food was more than plentiful, we added a serve of soft shell crab (mainly because my mother had never tried it). Every dish was a pleasure to eat; light, fresh and flavourful. The food is consistently excellent, based on the freshest ingredients and a clean cooking style, I was delighted that the sauces had not been thickened and so avoided that claginess you sometimes get with anglicised Asian food. Excellent as the food is, it is the service that really sets Charlie's apart, our waitress was a dream - quick, efficient and charming. At the end of the meal Charlie came out of the kitchen to meet us, a charming end to a delightful meal. Overall an excellent and affordable meal. Food * * * * * Service * * * * * Venue * * * *

A very pleasant surprise. I really enjoyed the kaprow duck as it was very tender and we'll spiced. Even the satay was a stand out.
The food here was absolutely delicious and very well presented. Loved the little crab roll starter
