Great food and drinks and nice atmosphere

Got told no tables were available inside was sat outside but saw three people just after me arrive and got seated inside straight away, food took ages to come out when it did it was cold, waiters kept coming over putting the umbrellas up and down. When we went to pay got told by the same waitress who sat us outside they were bringing the bill up and if we could wait outside, waited just over 5 mins no one came out went back inside and was asked if we would like to order told them no we were standing outside waiting for someone to come outside re the bill

Had breakfast there and I loved it. The tea was good, which is not that common in most cafés not to mention it. And the staff are adorable 😉 I would just suggest to fin a solution for the door opening: everyone has to grab the handle to open/close the door, doesn't sound great to keep everyone's hands clean

I have been in Newcastle for work and had breaky at monkey monkey monkey last few days. It's so good! Staff are lovely, food is terrific with a huge variety. I've been sitting upstairs and enjoying looking up and down Darby st. Glad i found this cafe!

My friend took me to 3 Monkeys the first time I came to Newcastle many years ago. We went for the milkshakes/smoothies, which are really, really good. This place has been a reliable performer since then. It's mostly a hit and rarely a miss. The food is great and the coffee is tolerable for me (= good for most people). The service is typically good, certainly friendly, and to be fair to the staff it can get pretty busy with diners spread over three locations on two levels. The rubbish bins can smell a bit funky out in the back courtyard in summer, which can detract from the leafy appeal, but I guess there's not much that can be done there. There are other places to sit. It's always on our list of places to go for special (and not so special) occasions. I don't think we've ever left disappointed. Definitely worth the 20 minute drive for us to get there. Recommended!

Quick service and very delicious food. Staff were friendly and very helpful. A bit of a wait for a table but wasn't too long. Great decor

Really good coffee and a very pleasant atmosphere (& outlook on upstairs balcony). Service was quick and staff were efficient and friendly. This business has been operating for many years and with good reason. Highly recommended.
