Visited Coffs (from Brisbane) specifically to eat at The Happy Frog. The verdict was somewhat mixed and, unfortunately, prevented what would otherwise have been a 5 star review.
The negatives:
At the counter, we ordered 4 salads that we stated would be shared between my wife and I. We found a table but, when served, were given the entire amount on a single plate. The waitress therefore returned with an additional plate and left again. Trying to move the salads to the other plate, using just a fork, was a challenge and a little frustrating.
Later, our drinks were delivered by a different waitress who opted not to speak and had a sullen look on her face the entire time. Then, while placing our drinks on the table, noticed some friends at a neighbouring table and immediately came to life, big smile on her face and chatting away. She walked away without acknowledging us and stayed with them for several minutes.
Not one piece of cauliflower in our entire serve of Broccoli & Cauliflower salad. Nevertheless, this probably rated as my favourite of the 4 salads selected. Some cauliflower would have been nice, however.
The positives:
A very well presented, clean store that offers a large variety of products, ranging across fresh food and drinks (salads, wraps, quiches, pies, tea, coffee, shakes, smoothies, cakes, etc.), packaged goods, cups/mugs, cook books, herbs/spices and much more.
There is indoor and outdoor seating so, even while the store was reasonably busy, we managed to find a table.
Our meals and drinks were excellent. Our 4 selected salads - Waldorf, Broccoli & Cauliflower, Buddha, Pear & Kale were all fresh, unique and really tasty. Although we disagreed on order of preference, we both enjoyed the lot. It was actually filling too so we weren't left wanting for more.
Overall, The Happy Frog is a great store that provided quality food and a mostly positive experience. Improve the customer service and, for me, all the boxes would be ticked.
