Absolutely beautiful. Amazing food. The desserts are beyond yum. Works of art that taste as good as it looks. Definite stop on the food destinations.
Had a very nice dinner here for our anniversary. Each course was tasty, well sized and thoroughly enjoyed. Not the cheapest place around but pretty fair value. Staff were friendly and attentive
We had Breakfast and dinner. We weren’t overwhelmed and it was ok, the flavours were a bit of a miss and it seemed like a confused restaurant. Staff were friendly and attentive though
The space was really nice and cosy. We got a special tonight which was a pan fried Hapuka fish and it was really yummy. However my stars go to the amazing service we got from Hanna she awas so friendly and joyful, definitely someone who does her job with love. What a difference it makes when you get great customer service 💙. Big thanks to her! On a side note, I have been looking for a good smoky Old Fashioned in Sydney where I live and no one seems to make it the way I like which is by using real smoke. Well here at Bay Restaurant I got what I was looking for, ask Leigh for his smoky old fashioned it is the best!
Amazing service! We loved our dinner here. We stayed at Freycinet resort and the restaurant even sent a shuttle to pick us up and drove us home when we were finished which was awesome. Everyone we met was super friendly and welcoming. Our waiter Leigh was especially friendly and knowledgeable. The wine was great and food very good, would especially recommend the orecchiette pasta/seafood dish. Thank you for having us The Bay!
Exceptional food with a focus on local produce. The service is on point, the views are terrific and the food so fresh and good the lack of a hat reflects on the Good Food Guide.
We ordered the Abalone and soba noodles for starters and it was divine. Followed by the pan fried fish and fillet steak which were both delicious. The restaurant and setting is beautiful overlooking the bay. And our waiter Corey was brilliant. Highly recommend The Bay restaurant.
Freycinet Lodge’s Bay Restaurant is the only thing close to fine dining you will find anywhere near Coles Bay. The restaurant is not restricted to guests, so, anyone can make a booking here. The food here is good, and exceeds expectations for a hotel resort restaurant. The Seafood Orecchiette was tasty, and had generous pieces of salmon, Blue Eye trevalla, mussels and calamari while the lamb backstrap was perfectly cooked. Desserts were nice, though underwhelming. Prices are a little high, but understandable given the location though wine and beer prices were reasonable. The space is big, and airy with plenty of room for social distancing, especially now tourist numbers here have collapsed due to borders being shut. Staff are great and very well informed about the food and wine. But the mosquitoes ate us alive! Doors and windows are left open late to take in the view and sea breeze, but they also attract huge numbers of mozzies, so, eat early, cover yourself in insect repellent before you eat, or ask the staff to bring you some insect repellent as soon as you take your seat.
The service was really good, the waiters were friendly and well informed. A four from my carnivorous husband, who adored the seafood and a three from me for the vegetarian pilaf which lacked flavour.
Good food. Friendly and well-informed wait staff. Decent menu, seafood based with meat and vegan options. Extensive local wine list. $$$
