The Barracks, Lanyon Homestead, Tharwa
Excellent customer service, delicious food and reasonable prices. Historical homestead, country feel but but close to town centre, overlooking the river, valley and mountains. The place clean, well kept, and tidy. Ideal for those visiting Canberra.
After living in Canberra for several years now we decided to come here for a visit. Great to see an original homestead and learn a bit of its history. We didn’t actually do the tour but decided to have lunch instead. Staff were very friendly and some great breakfast, lunch and desert options as well as a good selection of beer and wine. We’ll definitely be back to do the tour and lunch.
Great location average food.
An olde world atmosphere with great food, excellent service and good coffee. The surrounding gardens and view of the ranges are stunning. Excellent wedding venue. Child friendly.
Very quaint cafe! Great menu, big selection, great service!
We went on a Friday morning, access road was pretty average, even for a dirt road. The pain and grounds are lovely, and would be perfect for a sunny clear day. It was windy and horrible in autumn. The fireplace was smoking up the claustrophobic dining room. The marquee felt insecure in the wind. Service was nice and staff were friendly. Would recommend going on a nice day.
A lovely cafe with some delicious local made goodies. The serving staff were really lovely and the Rocky Road was absolutely amazing! The grounds of the homestead was also just wonderful for a toddler to explore.
Great food, coffee and service, so nice to experience the magnificent grounds of Lanyon Homestead and relax on the Lawn.
Came here for breakfast. There was no breakfast menu so my husband got a schnitzel and I got a BLAT. Staff were pretty disorganised, I think a new person served us, because we later saw other people order from a different breakfast menu so we thought that was very poor form. Food took 20 + mins to arrive. My BLAT was good but the rest was cooked in old oil and tasted funny. I think this place would be nice if you have lots of time and are looking for somewhere kids can run around. But wouldn't recommend coming here if you are a foodie. It does have lovely scenery.
Very interesting, a great part of our early pioneering history. Excellent coffee and the guides were very informative.
