Excellent ramen
I come here every few months, the food is consistent and delicious. The ambience is nice and the restaurant is pretty. They lost 1 star because of the last few times I went I felt rushed to get out in a very obvious way due to their 1.5hr time restriction. I do get it and understand the rules they have to stick by but yet we are paying customers and there's nothing worse than feeling like you are being forced to hurry up, especially if you have to wait for your food too. Would still highly recommend going to try the food.
Amazing ramen. Just to note, they are very specific about seating time allowed. We had booked for 6:30pm, but were told last orders at 6:45pm when we hadn't even ordered yet! There seemed to have been some confusion over our booking as they then tried to issue the bill just before 7:30pm and we hadn't received our food yet. We had a booking confirmation that the booking was from 6:30 to 8:00pm. It was very odd trying to explain ourselves and we felt very rushed.
Went to Gogyo a few times and we enjoyed every visit. We tried the signature charred miso ramen and classic tonkotsu ramen, both versions were flavoursome and consistent. Good food and ambience. Booking recommeded and worth to note its strict seating time restriction.
Came here by chance and was not disappointed. Food was flavoursome and staff were attentive. Great vibe overall. Would highly recommend!
Had to go and try out the delicious charred miso ramen at @gogyo.surryhills! The last time we had this style of ramen was when we went to Japan in 2016, and also went to Gogyo in Kyoto. Absolutely loved it! . Charred miso ramen: the noodles were different - flatter than the typical ramen noodles, and they were quite bouncy in terms of texture. The broth was amazing. The charred miso had such a bold flavour! . Fried school prawns: great tasting side dish. Crispy and yummy! . Nasu dengaku: very different from the usual way of cooking eggplant. This was cut in cubes and fried, but it's the same softness in the centre, and the sauce was excellent! . Edamame beans: these had some chilli and seasoning on them, and were quite good!
I had the signature charred miso ramen but I didn’t like it as much as I thought I would. It reminds me of that Chinese traditional fermented black bean kinda vibes which I’m ok with but not my preference if too strong. We tried a lot of sides as well and one that really stood out easy the wagyu sukiyaki spring roll - both me and my partner agreed we’d come again just for that haha I’d definitely come back to try some of the other ramen too
Great service, vibe and innovative food! Definitely try the wagyu spring roll... Probably the best spring roll I've had in ages!!
Similar to RaRa but better. Service was nice. Ambience was nice. But ramen was okay. It can be served hotter... (I personally think ramen should not be warm). Other than this, all good.
Great modern atmosphere and would recommend eating in front of the kitchen to watch the chefs cooking. Good quality food and service. Will come again.
