Nice place to come for a coffee by the water. That is about it. Service.... non existent. Food and drinks... good luck if you ever get them. This place needs to communicate with each other about everything in order to get get meals and drinks out.

Never a disappointment, whether it's call Deck 56 or Star Anise. The food is good, the coffee is excellent, the location is amazing and the best part of all is that the staff are just the best...

Had the brekky wrap and corn pancakes,both were delicious.coffee is best in town. Well worth it!

The only place worth eating at for dinner near here. Food is exceptional- not what you expect from this little place tucked away. The menu apparently changes regularly which is Fantastic - I had the beef fillet which was cooked perfectly and flavours and presentation at the same level. My husband had the Balmain bug spaghetti which was most delicious- I’m usually disappointed with seafood pasta (bits of shell dropped in and grit ) but this was delicious - handmade pasta I believe and cherry tomato sauce/flavour spectacular. Waitress was superb - attentive to us rag muffin looking country bumpkins who can actually have a very fussy palette. You might balk at the price but go nearby and spend nearly the same money on food that is quite terrible- like garlic bread that tastes like panini dipped in beef drippings. My daughter Nyah says this cafe is the best in Belmont and we were impressed with the attendants interaction with our 10yo. Will come here again. Hopefully for breakfast before we leave.

If you are looking for something: a)a bit fancy but also casual b) alfresco dining with a great lake view c) great service and eating atmosphere Well youre in luck because Star Anise located just a small stroll from Belmont's strip of shops across from the lake is your new go to spot. The menu has a variety of choices of lavish salads, pasta, pizza, seafood and many more other delicious things. Price wise, you definitely get the bang for your buck. It was affordable but not a meal that lacked in taste or portion size. As a mother and advocate for persons with special mobility needs, id also like to point out that this is has a ramp so easy access for anyone that needs wheels. What can I say? I'm very impressed. 5 stars.
