1221 High Street 3144, Malvern
Chill and low key spot for a classic Japanese meal. All the staples are done pretty well. Fish is fresh and local, presentation is crisp. Generous portions and a convivial local feel.
Cosy spot on the main road. The karaage chicken while plentiful in size did not have the same level of flavour compared to other Japanese restaurants. Sashimi was definitely on point, very fresh and tasty, especially the tuna. Spicy tempura prawn rolls are a must-have. Good time to go is around 2-3pm if you want quiet dining.
Their sashimi is melt-in-your-mouth amazing!
The fillet beef teriyaki has us returning again and again. Not a large range of sushi/sashimi, but they have the basics and they do it superbly with really fresh fish. This is our local family favourite!!
Been coming here for a few years now and I am always impressed. The shared tuna and salmon platter is always a good option as it is always fresh and delicious. Tempura vegetables and agedashi tofu are also great options. Very nice little restaurant feels very traditional. It is a little on the expensive side due to its location, however definitely worth it.
Great quality sashimi at a reasonable price. Sashimi/sushi platter didn't come with as many sushi varieties as we expected. We also enjoyed some miso soup, prawn tempura, wafu salad and salmon teriyaki to share. I would recommend the salmon - generous portion of fish. Although it claims to be BYO, $15 corkage per bottle is extremely steep. Limited atmosphere but friendly staff. Recommend for an easy dinner if you're not too fussed about the fine details!
Superb, clean, high quality.we keep returning, always absolutely, consistently delicious with attentive friendly service. Highly recommended. Back yet again and brilliant yet again!
First time there, was recommended. Food was great , really good, Service was o.k. We had to repeatedly ask for dishes to be served, even after we had been asked in what order we wanted them to be served. Our request was simple 4 entrees, 4 mains., nothing too complicated. I will return to Sozai, but not on a weekend. But as stated prior food was great.
First time in Sozai. Maki sushi is perfectly hand made by Japanese sushi chef with fresh ingrident. Tempura is coated with thin layer of batter just as it should be. Staff is attentive and friendly. Will definitely come again.
Great food. Love the fresh fish
