Always love the duck
Our duck was well over cooked. One or two nice pieces but generally dry (we were the first to be served) but did see the ducks that were coming out towards the end looked better. Customer service was poor!!! You could only order duck. No entree, no other dishes were allowed. When asked several times our request was declined with a βnoβ. No other explanation. Not sure why they even have a menuβ¦..rather rude! Would I go again? Probably not.
We ordered Peking duck option 1. According to menu this should have included 1. Duck, pancakes, cucumber, onion, sauce 2. Stir fried bean shoot with duck meat 3. Duck bone soup with bean curd. Duck was on the dry side. We had to ask for soup. Never even got the stir fried bean shoot. Also the duck gets carved in main dining area. I watched several being done and every time all the carcases got taken away with still a lot of meat on them. You pay for the whole duck but you don't get all of it. Quality and value for money very poor. Won't be going back.
Delicious duck. Absolutely delightful crepes to wrap the duck flesh and awesome duck noodles. More veg + bigger slice of tofu would be nice in the duck soup, but the flavour is beautiful as it is.
Best peking duck in Melbourne. 5 stars the first time I've dined here, few years ago when the legend, Simon was still alive. My second visit was a bit disappointing. I've also heard then and there that the owner has passed on. 4 stars : I've noticed the duck served this time had no fat attached (maybe removed?) which was the second best part imo, after the shattingly crisp skin.. which wasn't as crispy as the first time around. I can also tell by the colour of the skin wasn't as dark as the first time. I was estatic taking my mates here but seeing their reaction like it's "meh" made me feel like I hyped it up too much. Throughout the night, I kept saying, noo trust me guys, normally it's 100x better.. Regardless, it's still the best peking duck and i will return and support them when I'm craving duck. After all, they specialise in it :)
This place is not as good as people claimed. The sides are not authentic, wrong kinds spring onions (not spring onion white slices). The sauce is not peking style, and the duck slices are too thick. For a fusion restaurant it is ok tho.
The quality is just not what it use to be. The meat's on the dry side however the skin is still crispy and nice. Overall a great place. Very busy. You need to book in advance and they allow only an hour eating time (well it felt like it)
Best roast duck I've had for ages
Friendly staff, and great food!
