Just a joy of a place that has long earnt its place in the cute village like central suburb of Glebe. Beautiful staff, amazing food and wonderful live performers often playing to a fairy lit dream land of a space. Collectable books by day and Alice in wonderland provoking rabbit hole by night. Well executed in every way, and some of the cleanest, most visually aesthetic toilets of any establishment! Upon our visit, the cute and bubbly Bella was our table attendant, and made the experience more than it was with her bright smile, frivolous demeanor and gentle though powerful character. Will definitely recommend.

There's something really serene about the courtyard behind Sappho. Untouched 90s grungy decor amongst spacious open trees. It's really nice that such a large space exists that modern square metre yield economics hasn't touched. It does feel like it's in the brink of shutting down. You can't beat the math. The food was average, the vegan burger was as plain as you see and tasted as advertised. Come for the space don't stay for the food. Also there's a cat.

Nice atmosphere and cool vibe. However, I found the food to be just ok and slightly overpriced. The turmeric latte i ordered was ok but nothing amazing.

Visited this bookshop/cafe for the first time recently and I was not disappointed! They had a really great range of books, and my breakfast was amazing! The coffee with my breakfast was that good I even grabbed a second one before leaving which I have never done before! The staff were super friendly and service was quick. I can’t wait to come back!!

This is both my favourite cafe AND my favourite bookstore. They have a large range of teas to choose from which are delicious. I love coming here to study and it's such a nice atmosphere. I also love how the cafe is open to 6pm, compared to how most other cafes close around 3pm! I usually pick up a book whenever I visit as they are very affordable and have a good selection to choose from. You can get most classic books here. Will be back soon.

Description

Sappho Books & Cafe is one of Sydney's favourite General Secondhand Bookshopswith 30,000 titles. At the rear of the shop is Sydney's acclaimed Sappho Cafe, Wine bar - a popular Glebe destination. By day, the cafe is a favourite meeting place for university students, tourists, locals and the occasional celebrity. By night the Wine & Tapas bar boasts an eclectic crowd out for a different Sydney experience. The courtyard at the rear of the rambling building (circa 1880s) is home to a generation of graffiti - a legacy of its former life as a youth centre. Rather than white-wash the history of Sappho's new home, Sappho has made the street-art a feature of the inviting garden courtyard.
