Fresh, Simple, Delicious food in Adelaide's West End
9 Peel St 5000, Adelaide
Great everything, will go again.
Epic food, great service
The place is located in Peel street in heart of Adelaide city. A street full if different restaurants, bars and cafes. The place is very busy with cool decor and lovely, vibrant atmosphere. The service was good and the staff were very friendly and professional. The theme of the menu is modern Asian inspired. Out of four dishes that was on the set menu for group dine-in, the salmon trout sashimi was the best, very fresh, thinly sliced and well balanced and tasty with a beautiful slice of toasted charred beard. One criticism goes to very similar seasoning and dressing or saucing on all the dishes. So the chicken salad and the beef were very similar because of the sauce. The mussel broth was very nice and fresh but the mussels could have been better cleaned. I have got tiny sands which is not quite pleasant. Some slices of the beef were a touch over cooked. But all and all the restaurant has the potentials to be much better than this. I will definitely visit this place in future to have another experience.
If I could, I would give this fine restaurant a 10 star rating. Nah seriously, it's so good. Tonight I had the Banana Blossom chicken salad and it was jam packed with flavour that it left my hanging onto every fork fill. Fresh food, that's seasonal, cooked with great care and a delicate touch of finesse. Don't go anywhere else. Eat here.
Quality of dishes isn't as we remembered. Still good but not great. Less range than there used to be (covid?). Nice staff.
This place is special. Its about the food. Its exceptional. But everything else is good too. It had a great vibe. The only gripe I have is minor. The blackboard menu is hard to read when you are at the bar because it is behind you. The serve sizes were generous and there was so much delicious fresh stuff on the plates too. 3 plates made a big and rounded meal for 2 without any extras. Its not cheap but it is really good value for quality and size.
A confused culinary experience. We really wanted to like Peel st restaurant. But many things combined led for an overall unpleasant experience. Here are those things: - Being seated parallel to a wall where the menu was written up. (I'm all for sustainability, but having to crane our neck to read the menu was a bit difficult and ergonomically challenging, unless we just stand in the middle of the restaurant). - Solution - Don't sit people next to the wall where the menu is. - Unnecessary food complexity (18 ingredients for 1 main (pork belly)) led to much confusion. We enjoy our fusion food a lot, having lived in Melbourne and Perth. But never has a fusion meal disappointed us so much. - Portion size was confusing, the waitresses mentioned that 2 mains should be sufficient, but it was not, however yes 3 mains would have been too much. I think we would have preferred a smaller entre dish but they only had 1 option of olives (which don't like). So all in all, we were left very confused and slightly hungry. The 2 stars are for Service & Drinks.
Nice place, great food, great staff. $17 for the only glass of Shiraz was pretty steep. Maybe a couple of cheaper options would be good to bring people back
Top restaurant, very good ambiance and staff very helpful in choosing the menu. The Presentation is top notch, so as the food.. Enjoyed a lot.. thank you so much once again.
Such a great experience! We sat at the bar and loved everything, from the place to the food and the very friendly staff. The trout was so delicate and tasty! Plus the chefs looked amazing at work and they were very nice to talk to as well.
