The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia is a art staple. The exhibitions are really well curated, offer a great sample of contemporary work and are generally thought provoking in all the right ways. Sydney is lucky to have such a great gallery space in such an amazing location. Checkout the latest exhibitions, the cafe with the best view of Sydney and the great shop.

The MCA is the best. Love this insitution. I come all the time for their shows and the art work is always interesting. Came for Anish Kapoor earlier and had my mind blown. One of the must dos when in sydney. Go to the top floor cafe and take photos with the Opera House in the background.

The MCA Gallery is a great way to pass an afternoon in Sydney without blowing the budget. While the art is impressive I have to admit I usually end up spending more time in the cafe than looking at art. There are 12 wines by the glass and the shared platters are interesting and good value for money. The Ploughmans lunch is a feast. My top pick though is the arancini. Good options for vegetarian dining and all at really reasonable prices.

Brilliant place to walk around and absorb the modern art around. Lot of different artists are shown each season, so there's always some new to check out.

I can wander over and sit on the lawn, I can head inside and time seems to melt away. I really like the MCA and am glad that sydney has a world class contemporary art museum. It is a place of free thinking, a place to relax, a place that at times can be confronting and can make you angry. The MCA is most of all those a venue for free expression that feeds the senses and draws me back time and time again.

As a non-art student I often find art galleries uninteresting however the Museum of Contemporary Art is a refreshing addition to the Sydney art scene. As noted the exhibitions are often intriguing, as well as a strong permanent collection. It is in a central location with fabulous views of the harbour, with great amenities. I would definitely recommend it to visitors and Sydney-siders alike.
