Palace Hotel 15 Goulburn St Haymarket 2000, Sydney
Food is tasteful. But the real, and significant, let down is portion. Dinner was $85. The images speak for themselves.
Highlight of mamak is roti bom. You cant miss that if you’re here
Top malaysian resturent with a wonderful flavors and best ambient
This place is pretty good. Love seeing the roti-masters flip their stuff while waiting in line(seems to be a line every night!). If this show of acrobatic prowess wasn't enough, they feed you too. It's tasty food too. Their roti comes out flaky and warm with an accompaniment of pungent and spicy sauces. Their curries are aromatic and rich, their rice is fluffy and hot. I haven't tried any of their fried noodles/rice but that is mostly because the roti is such a tempting option that it is impossible to resist its siren call and order something else. I will say I was not a fan of the rotis outside of their classic 'canai' rotis. The basic is definitely the best. The murtabak roti was way too heavy for me and the egg in the egg roti didn't really add anything (especially if you consider the premium these other options add). Still, the classic roti option is stellar and a great bang for your buck.
Mediocre service. Very unhelpful and the food was meh...
After hearing a lot from my friends & colleague, finally visited the place, and man it was NOT worth it. 1. Service is unprofessional. Once seated (which usually is 15-30 min waiting outside) they just forget about you. Had to wait atleast 15 min before I got someones attention. Its concerning that if any of the staff member's freinds or the regular comes they are promptly served and that too before the customers that were seated before them. 2. The food is bland and overpriced. Ordered the Roti telur bawang, not a ounce of salt touched the entire dish. The whole show bloating on the window is pointless if the food doesn't taste good. 3. The whole setup is more like street food (except for the prices) than a dine-in.
Food is good, but service is awful. The reception tall gal wearing glasses has full of attitude, no smile on her face and no eye contact, the way she talks very rude.
Its ok i guess
My husband and I have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. A warm, inviting atmosphere paired with the spectacular flavours of these mayalsian dishes makes this by far my favourite restaurant to take visiting friends and family
Food is good but the queues are so long and the waiting staff are very rude. They have a good reputation so it is crowded always but they need to have a good customer service. Disappointed
Oh. My. Goodness! AMAZING Malaysian curry and roti - so delicious! Excellent service and very reasonably priced - we could totally understand why there was a line-up!! So, we came back to Sydney 2 years later and had to come here again, again a long wait but once seated at served you can totally understand why there is a line up! Best satay sauce in the world! And the roti!!!! I would LOVE to see this in Adelaide xxx
Amazing food .. always however paying $19 for raw green beans is crazy ... left very disappointed
The staff was super helpful and nice! The food was wonderful as always.
Food was nice. We order mi goreng. Unfortunately, they have reduced the quantity. Fried chicken was yumm. Good thing was we used 2 dine voucher. If you love seafood, it's a good place to dine in. Very few options for vegetarians and chicken lover like me😀
Quite disappointed, ordered the curry chicken and the sambal squid, which the portion is so small, compare to the price. The problem is so many sauce for the squid, I mean I don’t want to eat sauce ! Also the curry chicken is not really my favour, it is different from most of the curry from other shop . If you pay cash , 10% discount ! The staff is nice
This place been around for many many year serving delicious Malaysian food in casual seating environment. Their menu is limited but solid with all the classic favourite like Nasi Lemak with their crispy and juicy fried chicken, Rojak, Maggi Goreng. Their Roti are the best! Freshly made and flip in front of you. Chewy and tasty roti canai with choices of different toppings like telur (egg), onions, planta, bawang, Murtabak & sweet roti with pisang, kaya, bom and tisu. Definitely have to get a roti when you are here.
It's good! Consistent! Great service! But it's the same thing over and over.
No wonder everyone queue up outside. The Satay chicken is so amazing and roti as well. Absolutely delicious!
I had the vegetarian nasi lemak, had high hopes for it. All their sambals were non vegetarian so I had to have a bowl of rice, peanuts, cucumber, and pay extra for a curry (which was undersalted). Pretty disappointed to spend 15 dollars on rice and lentils when promised vegetarian nasi lemak.
Food is yummy. Waiting time not too long. Sambal tasty too.
