Excellent taste and service

The convent was the first place I've been in Australia, and the last one. The food is so tasty, and the place have something magical. Food is most of it vegan, but you can find also vegetarian. I'm not any of them, I have to say, even that, the food is so good. It also special, because you pay as you feel, and the use that money to help others. Workers are volunteers, at least, most of them. There are another 2 or 3 lentils more, but this one is the best one, also because of the place.

I myself was a volunteer here about 10 years ago, last week I went for lunch, I told a female staff (age in her 50s) “I need vegetable rice” and the staff yelled at me “curry?” This is a peaceful place for all who come to eat. I would really appreciate if staffs can be given some guidelines to follow.

The foods pretty good but most importantly the people are good! i can't recommend the work these people do highly enough.

This place has everything you need to spend a nice weekend there. Horses and ponies, pheasants, country side tracks, river side tracks, bushes and trees everywhere, it literally feels like you're in a remote country. And the restaurant has some really tasty food! Vegan options available, we tried rotti kutthu (Sri lankan food) and it was yummy! You can eat for free if you can't pay, it's up to you, you can just donate and leave. Highly recommend for dates, families and friend gatherings, specially dates would be romantic!

Fabulous food, people and vibe

Truly my favourite restaurant. After living in Melbourne for more than 10 years, I still come back to Lentil again and again. If I lived within walking distance, I may never cook at home again! There is always a new dish and a new experience to be had. The kitchen staff and wait staff are often volunteers and international travellers. Everyone has such an open mind and upbeat attitude. This place is honestly a Melbourne institution and I always make sure to contribute my fair share to their pay-as-you-feel system in the hope of keeping it alive. The food is a beautiful eclectic mix of cuisines, all vegan, all delicately spiced, and always a rich array of different vegetables. With cake and coffee to finish it off as well, it really is the perfect meal.
