La Bouffe Mauritian Restaurant Perth

It's super new, and they are getting started. The menu has some great Mauritian foods I remember from my holidays, over time I am sure they will do well. Super friendly Mauritian owners and staff will really look after you, do give it a try, even if you haven't visited Mauritius - you will feel like you are there! I have a great meal for two for under $60 which is fantastic value...

I ate at La Bouffe Mauritian Bistro recently with a group of friends (based on the recommendations of a Mauritian friend) and the experience was delightful. La Bouffe, being a Mauritian-Indian bistro, is what one would call a hidden gem. Nestled amongst the bigger, better-known food places (Lapa Brazilian BBQ and Nandos), La Bouffe offers an interesting taste of Mauritian cuisine - to note, La Bouffe is tucked away neatly in a corner between Lapa Brazilian BBQ and Viva Photography for anyone who has difficulty locating La Bouffe! The food that we ordered was flavoursome. For starters, we had the Gateaux Arouille (Mauritian chilli poppers), Gateaux Piment (taro fritters), Traditional Dhal Puri (Indian flat bread stuffed with seasoned yellow split peas in a curry paste) and Samosas (baked pastry with a savory spiced potato filling) all of which we thoroughly enjoyed. The Gateaux Arouille was seasoned with just the right amount of cumin and spices, and was very succulent. The Gateaus Piment was fried to a crisp, with well-balanced flavours which complimented the crunchy texture. The samosas was very interesting being a flavourful spiced treat! The Traditional Dhal Puri was enjoyed around the table as it was wholesome and when paired with the complimentary Mauritian green chilli paste, it was simply delightful - the creaminess of the green chilli paste added another dimension to the curry paste filling! (apologies as I had not taken a picture of these dishes as we were all too busy enjoying the starters) For the mains, I cannot speak for the entire table but I had the Octopus & Papaya Curry served with rice (as per the picture attached). I was a little hesitant ordering this dish as I rarely eat octopus (and have had bad experience eating chewy octopus elsewhere) but I decided to give this dish a try as I was told that this curry is a popular dish in Mauritius. Lo and behold - I truly enjoyed the curry (being a coconut-based curry) as it was packed with flavour and spices. The octopus was very tender yet juicy to the bite! The papaya was a nice contrast to the spiced curry as the papaya added a hint of sweetness to the overall flavours. The staff were very attentive and helpful - we did have to wait a little longer than anticipated since the kitchen just happened to be short-staffed that day (which was totally understandable and this also gave us the opportunity to socialize amongst ourselves). The internal decor was modern, being a reasonably new establishment it felt cozy and was a very neat setup (as I was told by my Mauritian friend, it had a very authentic feel to the place especially with the music selection and ambiance). Unlike the more mainstream cultural food (eg Japanese, Thai, and Chinese food, for example), Mauritian cuisine is highly underrated and I would highly recommend trying La Bouffe Mauritian Bistro if you enjoy the spices used in South Indian cuisine, are interested in trying something different, and to have a taste of Mauritian food.

Good flavour Mauritian food but don't dine in. We had very long wait for entree and for main course, there is only soft drink to drink, and it was very cold on a winter night. I won't be back. Try takeaway but order a couple of hours before you want to eat!

Great good, great service. What else to ask? First time to try this in Perth and I liked it. We were a bunch of friends there and they all loved it. Something new in perth. Recommended. PS: the gateau piment was delicious!

It's typical Mauritian food and it's delicious!! The staff is friendly and the chef makes amazing food! I highly recommend this place

They catered our event. Even when uber refused to deliver food during a snap Covid lockdown, they brought over themselves. Not only great food.

Went there today for lunch with wife and one daughter and really like the place ,set up and unfortunately wanted to have a Roti with curry which was on the menu and advertise on Fb and website, which unfortunately was not served on weekend what the. Guys told me ,and I had to change my order. while having my lunch I saw the roti being served on several tables and was really surprised by this and eventually before leaving I asked the guys who looked after us my observations and he reply there must have been a lack of communication with the back office (kitchen ). I sincerely hope this was true as I really don’t like when I am treated this way . I also ordered dhull puri and roti to bring home and a fried rice . So actually I don’t really know what to think and hopefully they will revert back to me with a sincere comment as I did not like this attitude . There is so much potential there but if they ate not offering what is advertise on their website and Fb this is not good .
