Initially was unsure of this place due to the outlook, and I wasn’t able to see the name of the restaurant (which later I found on the side). But I’m glad I tried it as their food is delicious and inexpensive. Also reminded me of the hawker concept in Singapore/Malaysia. Service is fast, and it’s amazing to see that although there is only one chef, everything is running so smoothly due to their great team work. Will definitely be back to try their other dishes!
So glad I found you again, went today for the first time since 2009 and my goodness the taste and memories of when it was in Port Phillip Arcade came flooding back, ordered the honey chicken, wanton soup and plum beef with 2 drinks for $48.50, the soup is big enough for two people. An absolute must if you want fast and very tasty food.
Kim Sing is a very popular spot for my colleagues and I. We’ve been coming here for the last 5 years, from back in the day when they were @ Port Phillip Arcade to now. The menu is extensive with over 100 different dishes all ranging from $11-$13! My go-to dish is no.25 - Pork Chop & Egg on rice! If you’re feeling hungry, add some of their dimsims to your order! Huge juicy dimsims priced at $2.50 for 2! Such a steal! They also have house made chilli oil on every table! Highly recommend this spot!!!
Good food and fast service. We ordered the Singapore Noodles and Salt Pepper Pork on Rice. We exchanged the Steamed Rice with Fried Rice for an extra $1. However, if you ask for extra plates, it’ll cost $0.15. I’m keen to try the rest of the menu.
Food is excellent. As a busy professional, this restaurant is perfect for me as the service is quick, food well reasonably priced and the overall taste will make you keep comoing for more to trial out their other dishes. My only suggestion is to go a bit earlier, as lunch hour (between 12.30 and 1) can have you waiting in the queue for a while but you cant blame the restaurant for that, as the food quality and service is so darn good that everyone wants to grab a bite from this delicious joint.
Simple, quick and delicious. I ordered the chicken and pork with rice with extra mixed vegetables, total $15. Both the chicken and pork are battered and deep fried with a nicely spiced seasoning, with a sauce on top. Came out in about 2min, but was still hot and fresh. A no brainer when I don’t know where to go for lunch.
This is the gem in the city. Cheap food good taste. I ordered number 28 on the menu if u guys wanna try the same 😆
Cheap, delicious, decent portions. Chicken and Pork steak is my go to. Highly recommended.
One of the iconic cheap eat in Melbourne. Chicken steak and rice is the go to menu item. Upgrade to fried rice, and extra fried egg for luxury. Double chicken if you are really hungry. I recommend to skip the free water and get a bottle water or can drink instead. Thank me later 😅
Not going to lie when Kim Sing closed down a few years ago my heart was broken, post covid lock downs they place looks fantastic and the food is as good as it ever was, it still almost beats you back to the table. Get on the chicken steak with fried rice and pile on the scrumptious chill oil. The special feuded rice is also amazing. I can’t wait for the city to be a buzz and the line is back out the door on a Friday for lunch. So happy to have you back in my life.
