food and service was good
Food and service is good. My favourite was the lamb murtabak. It's a good south indian fix close to the city.
A good variety of dishes that we haven't seen at other restaurants we have been to. The lamb kothu string was really tasty and was something we hadn't tried before. Haven't had egg curry for ages and that was great, not sure why so few Indian restaurants include it on their menus. We also enjoyed the mushroom and cheese dosai. We had to make some different selections from the menu as several of our first choices were unavailable.
My boyfriend picked this spot on a whim for Valentine's Day. Cozy little hidden gem of Newtown. You can tell the food is made on the spot with a decent wait time, unlike places that let it sit in a hot tray for hours, and the portion sizes are reasonable for a good price. Service was a little quiet (they had an odd choice of music - a lot of break up songs on Valentine's Day π) but still friendly and welcoming. Had the lamb kurma and honestly I still have dreams about it. The meat was nice and tender and the sauce it soaked up I wanted to lick my plate clean. Will definitely come again.
Tuesday takeaway ordered in store - first time customer The chicken was lovely and tender The lamb was the wrong dish and very fatty pieces of meat The pappadums tasted like they had been deep fried in really old oil, and were unable to be eaten Naan didn't turn hard, even when cold If you like things with a kick, you may need to ask for extra hot as "hot" is not But the food came out quick
I always have a good experience here. The staff are friendly. The restaurant itself is basic and simple but has a relaxed atmosphere but it's the food I come for. The thali is one of the best and my go to at this restaurant. I often eat on my own as I'm travelling and I'm always made to feel welcome here. When I get back to Sydney this is the place I always visit.
Delicious Indian food with a variety of different styles and flavors. The place looks very simple but the customer service is lovely and the food is super tasty.
Best indian restaurant in newtown, excellent food with outstanding customer service. I recommend this place , you guys will love the food and the service. Thanks to Bikram basnet for making us very comfortable and treat like family. Enjoyed to the bestπππ
Poor service, served me sambar with Chana poori/bhatura. On asking for channa which as the name suggests from the menu served some uncooked microwaved channa. Seriously disgrace to Indian food, question the chef who let that out. I felt offended being Indian served that food. A big thumbs down and coming from an Indian perspective WORST INDIAN FOOD IN SYDNEY IS served here.
Your restaurant has the unique opportunity to be the sole place serving good Indian breakfast food in Newtown. You should take advantage of this by opening earlier instead of 11:30 and advertising your breakfast options like puri and idli that we all miss away from home.
