Came to Hubbles Yard Cafe for the first time this morning for breakfast. The pancakes were amazing and the toasted granola, fresh fruit and yogurt was the same. My husband and I did a 'share' plates. Best pancakes in Freo! The granola was full of flavour with toasted pecans and all kinds of yummy nuts and seed :) We will be back Susan and Sean

I have never felt discriminated in Australia until I walked into this venue. I walked in with two other guest 10 minutes before there closing time and immediately felt unwelcome. The gaze from the staff, the chef, and the manger felt extremely unpleasant. When directed at us it was often accompanied with a shaking of the head, as to reiterate the fact that we were not welcome. I suppose the reasons behind such behaviour are two. Firstly, the fact that we walked in close to closing time. Well, I have years of experience in the hospitality industry and, when I felt tired or didn't want anyone else to come in the venue too close to the closing time I would put up the close sign, or lock the door, or tell them that unfortunately we had stopped the service. But I would never take someone money and then stare at them until they leave. Secondly, now I work for a not for profit organisation that helps people with mental disabilities engage in the community and overcome their daily challenges. I was there with my line manager and one of our young clients. I believe that my client presence was the real problem there. He is a young man with some serious mental health issues whom I was introduced to for the first time by my line manager. As the client is new to Fremantle, we thought that meeting at a cafe would encourage him in discovery his new community. Well, we definitely chose the wrong place to start. What really upsets me, is that while I was walking out I even said "thank you for letting stay us a little bit longer". Well, that didn't go well either... I'm sorry guys, but working in the hospitality industry means to be hospitable to the other. I understand, you might all had a very long day and just wanted to go home... Well, if you really want to kick people out I suggest to open an Irish pub and hire a bouncer, maybe as a business it would suit you a lot better.
