Delicious food. Make a booking in a limited time. Always busy. Upstairs hard to get attention from staff. But overall with good food. Not bad to visit.

This place is way over priced tbh. The first dish is a veggie with 4 prawns, and priced as 35 bucks... If it served without the prawns the price will be $25. The taste was a bit too salty and quite average, though the price is at high end. Won't recommend this to my friends.

Updated review June 2021: Lunch at @hojiak.haymarket - fantastic Malaysian food 🤤😍. . Loh bak: five spice pork rolls wrapped I bean curd skin and deep fried. Perfectly cooked loh bak! Nice flavours with a good dipping sauce. . Char koay kak: wok fried radish cake - really nicely done! Amazing flavours. . Kangkung belacan: essential dish! Love love love it as always 😃😍. . Char kway teow: with prawns and crab meat. Such a perfect dish! Loved the fried pork lard - makes it so much better 😍😍. Lots of wok hei. Oh and it was quite spicy 😂. . Marmite pork ribs: I really liked this dish! So much good flavours 😍😍. . Sambal petai: wok fried squid with shrimp paste, chilli, and bitter bean. This is a really unique dish that not everyone enjoys, mostly because of the bitter beans. It was really nicely done! The squid was tender and tasty 🤤.

Nice food but compared to other Asian restaurants around it's a little more pricey (most dishes over $20 per serve) because of some exxy ingredients like scallops, lobster and truffle.

A wide variety of Malaysian food. So every modern takes on traditional dishes which is great to see. The traditional dishes were also spot on in terms of spice and flavour. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Food here is tasty and pretty authentic at the Haymarket restaurant in Chinatown. They have all the usual malaysian favourite hawker dishes like the Hainanese Chicken rice, Char Koay Teow, Indomie Goreng, Laksa, Char Hor Fun, Nasi Lemak and Classic dishes like Hainanese Chicken, Beef rendang, etc. My usual favourite is Roast Chicken egg noodles/chicken rice and Fried carrot cake that I really enjoy since they sell it. Food here is on the pricey side for malaysian food and a popular hawker dishes is around $20 mark now. Feel that the portion size also shrink about 20% now with the increase in price . Overall the food is good and it's recommended to come as a group to eat and share for the whole malaysian dinning experience.

Super over priced for what it is. It's good; but not great. Flavors do not add up to $50 for a seafood noodle dish.

Description

Ho Jiak Haymarket is Sydney’s first Malaysian Nyonya grill house and is inspired by the homestyle and street food dishes that Head Chef Junda Khoo grew up cooking with his amah in the family kitchen. Feast on thick, spicy Laksa with chewy al dente egg noodles, rated one of the best in Sydney. Or embrace the Nyonya grill with a grilled tasting platter of lamb cutlets, chicken and seafood, complete with BBQ char lines and chilli sambal sauce. The ground floor of the two-story restaurant is inspired by the street Chef Khoo grew up on in Penang, Lebuh Ah Quee. Up on the first floor, the decor is styled like his grandma’s home, a place full of love and laughter. Welcome to Amah’s Kitchen…
