Have been going to the century semi-regular for the past 12 years but unfortunately I don't think I will be back. Took my wife (she is pregnant) who was craving ginger and shallot lobster. Ordered the ginger and shallot lobster and when it arrived they did it salt and pepper. Told them the mistake and they said 'we fix for you' and took it away. Didn't see anyone get a replacement lobster, ten minutes later it comes back ginger and shallot, however could tell that the breading from the salt and pepper was still on it and was not eaten. Asked them if it was a new lobster and they swore it was and said they threw out the other one. Asked to see the new lobster ticket and they just said 'same size' and when I questioned if it was fresh they said yes 'I show you CCTV'. When the bill comes it's the original lobster ticket, no replacement and no proper explanation of what happened. They offered 10% then 20% off lobster price which I refused as they served us the same lobster cooked twice. Spoke to a manager and explained what happened and he gave 50% off, but still no apology or acknowledgement of what happened. This experience was not only a disappointment for the night that we were looking forward to, but has also tainted any future visits, which I can guarantee won't be for a very long time. Yes I know lobster is expensive and we were willing to pay for it, but not after it being cooked two different ways and with no acknowledgement or apology of what happened. Utterly disappointed.

Golden Century has been a popular Sydney Chinese restaurant for many years amongst locals and travellers. It is two levels and huge inside, with lots of tables perfect for large groups. There are even a few private rooms that can fit around 30+ guests. There is an escalator to the second level, which is where you can find the bathrooms. The food is delicious and comes out really quick and the service staff are pretty friendly.

Loved it. Service was good and the quality of the food is excellent. You can really tell the freshness in the fresh produce and seafood/meat. Seafood is picked right out of the tank for you to see and they really know how to cook it. An excellent sellection of wine in their cellar too. International and a lot of Australian too. I can understand the hype and why Sydney's chefs come here after service.

I went in January with my 4 other siblings. Despite market price being around $25, the were still selling their lobster for $200 per kg. Dafuq? The food was dry & bland. The staff rude. The place was FILTHY. The bathrooms, I just walked right out of. Really makes you think thrice - being an establishment for FOOD. It was to be an institution of the very finest (admittedly circa 2008). I can't understand why anybody would go there anymore. The entire experience, from food, to staff, to venue was do sad.

Rating is for vast array of fresh seafood tanks which must be the best in Australia; and I have been coming here for many, many years and the quality of the chefs seems to continue to improve. Just look at the food and wine menus which continue this odyssey. Being mainly a single diner over the past twenty years, it seems ridiculous that I would complain about anything. But here goes: Past few visits this year have left me to be upset about basic service that I want to rate so much higher. Not enjoying the tea service, nothing makes me happier than fresh tapwater served as readily as tea. It doesn't have to be cold; just a constant supply throughout my meal or leave a jug. I enjoy my wine/s with meals and staff should know me well enough not to rush me when ordering the food. I go for the long lunch in the best possible way. But don't ignore me when I'm ready to order. I always leave a cash tip but last Saturday the waiter suddenly descended on the cash before I had time to sort it out. Looking forward to seeing you all very soon.

Well known for their live seafood. We struggled to find a spot at year end due to the large crowds. Attentive staff. Food is always delicious. A real institution lasting for so many years and serving amazing Catonese food. Just on a bit pricey side ;-)

Seafood is very fresh and most of the dishes were very tasty. Sweet and sour pork and the steamed parrot fish with ginger and shallots were the highlight. Other than the food the only downside was the carpet. Strong odour that it has not been cleaned for a long time and when you step on it, it's sticky.

BEST Chinese restaurant to experience real authenticity, open late nights Friday and Saturday. Always busy, especially on Saturday’s and around Chinese New Year. Very quick table service delivering quality food each time I visit πŸ₯˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ»
