Quality Haddock Real fish and chips 👍
Distinctly British fish and chips right down to the smallest detail. We had the North Atlantic Cod. It was delicious and the hand cut chips soaked in salt and brown vinegar where magnificent. A special shout out to Lily who served us. A delightful young lady, very patient and helpful. We’ll be back 😀👍🏼
A taste of home, this place is a proper chippy, with proper portions. Me and my brother-in-law decided he was gonna treat us to good food, we had a fairly big order for 4 adults. The staff where polite, and very hard working, we had maybe a 15 minute wait which I thought was a good time for a such a busy place. The order was correct and fresh. My partner was super happy with the piece of fish and taste of it. The Haggis was good. The burger was a little greasy but had good flavour. And the sausage and chips was perfect. Overall the young girl that served us was efficient and polite, the food came in good time and was all fresh, and it was reasonable priced for the amount we got. If your in the joondalup, currambine area definitely get yourself into The British Chippy, and if you live a further a field then they have you covered too, they have a eating in area to sit down and enjoy the great food.
Great service and excellent value fish and chips. All items were available gluten free so my wife could eat anything. Very happy and this will become our new preferred fish and chips venue
Ordered online from a selection of hake, snapper, and cod. Sold out of cod so ordered seemingly snapper and chips which was advertised as $13.50 per serve. Get there only to be charged $18.50 and when I queried the price they said that the cheaper price was for a small size. Fair enough, but nobody made this apparent when we rang up and ordered to ask what size we'd like!!! And they are the first line items that appear on their menus online, on the printed brochure and on their menu board in the shop, so it's an easy (misleading) mistake to make. As they did not ask what size we would like, they simply gouge you by charging you more for the regular size when you turn up. I'm obviously not the first person that did this, judging by the young man filling the order and shaking his head at me. The chips were genuinely not nice as they were, soggy small pieces as others have noted. Apparently you can upgrade (at a cost) to British chips which are larger and better. This, there must be an obvious difference. And the fish most certainly did not taste like snapper, and was rubbery. Are they still allowed to call other species 'shark' in WA? Shame about the duplicitous bait and switch practices when you order, and needless to say we will not shop there or any of their branches again. Disappointing day as I took my old Mum and family there for a treat.
Not so great tonight ! Horrible baskets to eat out of. ! Where did the plates go ✅ much smaller portions. fish batter was soggy when I asked for well done. No crunch and mushy peas were cold. Seemed a very young and inexperienced staff. Husband couldn’t even eat his. Shame as we used to visit and love this place. No music on or atmosphere anymore either I Hope Steve sees this and rectifies
I find this place hit & miss, depending on staff & stock. Had one good, then two poor experiences previously, but because it is open when other nearby fish & chip places aren’t, decided to give it another chance for a recent Sunday lunch. The food was hot & yum (on the two dodgy occasions, the food was dry, bland, and lukewarm). I note that this time they had cod in stock, so that clearly makes a difference. The hand-cut ‘British style’ chips are always a highlight here (make sure to ask for them).
Ridiculously expensive and has gone down hill big time. I used to love going here as a treat and a wee taste of home, won't be going again that's for sure! For starters, the child serving was confused when we asked for a supper then charged us seperately for fish and then the chips. I used to love a white pudding supper here but now they charge more and give only one pudding instead of the usual two. Snapper was overcooked as were the chips. Very disappointing for the price they charge!
Really disappointed yesterday Valentines day with my take away order. Had ordered Snapper and chips and my fish was definitely not snapper. I was given 2 small very flat over cooked pieces of fish. I realise it was very busy and the wait time was very long, over 30 mins but that is not an excuse for poor quality food. I have always used the British Chippy since the shop opened but will definately be going elsewhere in future. Such a shame.
Always great here - the fish and chips are a true taste of the UK and all their products are genuine and high quality. I never miss an opportunity to eat here and always appreciate the real Yorkshire tea that is free when you dine in - if I could I would give it 6 stars 👍
