Conservatory at Crown is one of the most popular buffets in Melbourne. The ambience and decor was definitely top notch. However the food was quite underwhelming. The variety of food was nothing spectacular for the price, and the quality was also lacking. A lot of the cooked meats were dry. The desserts looked nice but didn’t taste pleasant. Overall a good place to treat yourself on a special occasion, but won’t be back unless they improve the menu.

Came for the lunch buffet and it's absolutely excellent value for the money, standard lunch comes with complementary wine or software as well as tea and coffee. Lunch menu offers a good selection of seafood, Asian food, western food, cold platters and desserts. Highly recommend the lunch session and booking is essential, I came on a weekday and it was fully booked.

Decor and lighting good. Queues for food extensive and very little space between middle island salad bar and hot food section - always congested there. Food is average to good quality and plenty of seafood. Desserts are varied and bite-sized.

Food was delicious and the staff were really lovely. A great way to spend Saturday afternoon. Make sure to come hungry though! I especially liked the chicken sandwiches and the sweets!

Table staff were really great and we can only wish the food was on the same level... but we were a bit disappointed in the blandness of a lot of it. 99% off the seafood was cold (and nothing to write home about), would've loved more hot options. Hot red meats and salads were beautiful though. There was staff standing around the buffet but not one of them stopped the push ins or the people not following the arrows - super frustrating and this needs to be looked at! I guess most of the money goes to the rent and location but $650 for 4 adults and a child was a bit much when we didn't leave reminiscing on the amazing food.

Live review: First foremost when I spoke to the reservation consultant. She didn't mention anything about 1 hour time limit capacity which is fair enough. I understand giving time limits to other capacities during school holidays. That's no issue. The delicatessen selection is very poor. You only got two cheeses Brie and Cheddar in comparison to the Melba where they got a wide variety and the lunch sessions at Conservatory is better. There should be more of a continental range. Its like dining in Mesh with minimal luxury. Your better off going for McDonald's for breakfast. But I won't say no critics for there lunch sessions. That was 6 out of 5 stars. Would I be embarrassed to ask for a refund? Absolutely not! with high expectations i expected a one of a kind experience with the praising I got from friends. The waiter who worked at Mesh was right you pay extra $10 for conservatory and u get the same choices. You just go for the name of the restaurant instead. Until they have a better menu and choices for breakfast id recommend Mesh or for a quality luxurious breakfast dining Melba for $49

Table staff were great however we've had better value for money elsewhere. You'd expect a complimentary glass of wine at these prices and no attempt to celebrate our daughters birthday despite ticking the special occasion box on booking and reminding staff when we confirmed

We all enjoyed the buffet dishes offering the best of Eastern and Western cuisine. Seafood is a highlight; with a mountain of fresh prawns, daily fish dishes and freshly-shucked oysters. For dessert there's a wide range of sweet treats, including Conservatory's famous chocolate fountain. With soaring ceilings and views over the river to the CBD, Conservatory is an elegant and relaxed place to dine at any time of day.
