I am visiting Canberra on Thursday August 15 and want to bring an elderly couple to the cafe for lunch. Do you serve soup or sandwiches as I know they don't like big meals and prefer something under $20? Thank you

Do you have a ramp access?

If I book a table for 10 on a Saturday morning at 10 am is the reservation for an hour? and can we sit outside?

What is on the wine list?

Great coffee, great location, retro furniture and fantastic stained glass windows. The staff were very courteous. The lamb burger which was fresh, delicious and loaded with sauce. And the scrambled eggs were light and fluffy, crispy bacon and the sourdough toast wasn't too heavy. The only problem we had was the plates were too small for all the food.

We had a really nice brunch experience at Bookplate. The atmosphere is very cosy and warm, and the stained glass windows cast a lovely glow over the interior. I imagine this changes over the day but in mid-morning autumn it was perfect. The menu is very limited, but the upshot of that is very quick service and perfectly made dishes. I had the eggs Benedict with baby spinach and a side of mushrooms. The mushrooms were the hero, even though they were an add-on. The coffee was also very good. Bookplate is a great place to start a morning out in the parliamentary triangle but make sure you book first as it was busy, even at 10.30am.

If you're near the lake and looking for a decent, well-priced meal, Bookplate never fails. Tucked inside the National Library, it has a lovely outdoor area with views over the lake if weather permits. Although the ordering system is a bit chaotic (blackboards and people handing menus as you come through the door) service is surprisingly quick and the food is superb - tasty and healthy. Portions are huge (3 pulled pork tacos was probably 1 too many), and the coffee and tea are fine, though the real star here are the cakes (if you have room).

Good atmosphere of inside and outside seating. At this time of the year outside was about cold so be prepared. Inside was really cosy and nice. Coffee quality was good and service also friendly. Outside seating seemed pet friendly as well, people with dogs were there.

Nice atmosphere and great view from the outdoor area. Coffee was great. Only a very small menu for breakfast. Food was fine but nothing amazing. Went at 7:30am (opening time) to watch the balloons, as they advertised it is a great vantage point, but the balloons were all well and truly gone before we got there which was a shame. They have heaters in the outdoor area which was nice on a chilly morning. The staff were professional and friendly.

There is no better place to have brunch or a light lunch than Bookplate (seated outside - weather permitting). Attentive staff together with an excellent well balanced menu coupled with the perfect location that is quintessentially Canberra, creates a memorable experience for locals and visitors alike.
