Bar Wa delivers a unique setting with wonderful staff. The food was the most interesting and flavorsome Japanese cuisine I have had in Tassie. Japanese beer pleased the palate of many on our party. The banquet was both generous and delightfully varied with many textures and flavours. Delicious.
Woah... If you eat anywhere in Hobart. Make sure it's here!! Such beautiful flavours. So many unique dishes to try. And epic Sake menu if that's your Thang! Be sure to make a booking as I was lucky to get a walk in seat when I went. I highly recommend going for the oyster happy hour from 4-6pm πͺβοΈ
Recommended by colleagues, and the place did not disappoint. Excellent food with an extensive authentic selection of Japanese beverages. Enjoyed my Yamazaki whisky flight which included the much sought after Yamazaki 18yo. Would return for sure!
Amazing vibe, great service and even better food. A great place to experience the best of Japanese food and culture. Menu items are great for sharing and drinks are highly enjoyable too. Super impressed with the little touches everywhere (including the well-equipped bathroom with Japanese facilities) that really reminded me of being back in Japan. Visited twice while on holidays here and would definitely be back next time my partner and I are in Tassie.
Was honestly let down and disappointed, just arrived in Hobart and was craving fresh Japanese seafood. We ordered the various share platters and was disappointed with the lack of Japanese authenticity. The meals were very expensive and would not recommend. Lovely staff however.
Went to Bar Wa tonight. I arrived around 22:20. The food itself was good so as the beer. However, still something need to be mentioned. First did not get the chopsticks when the food was served. Second, after my first-time ordering, as I would like to add something to the order, I was told the kitchen closes at 23:00, when the time was 22:55 (my bad, I did not know the kitchen usually closes at 23:00, otherwise I would probably not choose to go to bar wa.). Third, I did not get all the food I ordered in the first place. Really bad experience have to say.
Hidden gem! Really funky place with very tasty food! A great place to try some unique Japanese experiences like sparking jelly sake and udon pancakes. You can also multi-task by learning Japanese whilst using the heated toilet seats that spray your βpartsβ clean! Love, love, love this place! But you have to book to ensure you get a seat!
Oh my, easily the best dinner spot I've been to in Hobart. They have recreated a Japanese restaurant to a tee and I didn't want the food to end. I would recommend the oysters, blue fin sashimi, smashed pink eye potatoes, collard greens, chashu and agodashi tofu. If I lived in Hobart, this would be a regular for me.
Lovely atmosphere and beautiful Japanese food. Pretty busy all week through. Need to book
Cool and hip japanese inspired share plates. Great vibe and good service. A good late night option for food and drink.
