Good service
Fantastic food and drinks
They were fully booked online but when we called/emailed them a few days in advance, they were still able to squeeze our group in. Ambiance and food were great except for the platter, which was a bit underwhelming. Good selection of drinks as well, but hope we could get a better description of the βFeed Meβ option for large groups. It could be included in the menu maybe and could list the items included for easy reference
A very tasteful place, with a sense of Japanese Cyberpunk, the food are fresh and tasty. I wonder whether the founder are Japanese Aussie hybrid, because the entire style hybrid the traditional Japanese style and western funky style perfectly. Strongly recommended.
Excellent Japanese food in a funky, yet relaxed vibe. The staff are amazing and the food is even better. We had a selection of share plates with a couple of cocktails and some wine - and we loved it all. The food is very tasty and the service was on point.
Went here as it was highly rated. Made sure to book weeks in advance. Was not disappointed. The drinks list is extensive. The food options are extensive, and what's best is they are the right size to allow you to try multiple different dishes. Highly recommend.
Funky with personality. We did lunch on our last day in town. I am glad we did. It has nice people offering great service. It was our first time and the menu and drinks were explained with good detail. The drinks list needs more than one sitting! The food was wonderful and size perfect. My only regret is that I would have loved to stay longer, unfortunately business called. Thank you team Bar Wa Izakaya, you can rest assured that when we are back later in the year we will be in for a long lunch.
This place is amazing, make sure you book. Lots of free parking on side streets as well. We went for the happy hour (half price oysters with a drink), and the oysters were really good - give the sake tasting paddle a try. The yellow fin tuna appetiser was delicious and incredibly fresh. the okonomiyaki was probably amongst the best in Australia, and as good as most in Japan. I loved the potatoes (there is plenty of sauce, so no need to go easy). The pork jowl is very fatty but extremely tasty as was the miso butter mushrooms. Highly recommend this place.
Fantastic food and good selection of drinks. The kitchen is open until 11pm so you can spread out your orders. Fairly quick service. The place does get busy and if you are seated at the bar you might find yourself surrounded by people trying to pay their bill as you are eating your food. Overall great Japanese place in Hobart.
One of the best places I've been to by far! We were seated right in front by the bar so could see right into the kitchen. The head chef runs a tightly run ship and you can tell as the food comes out super fast. Not only that, but every single dish we tried was flavourful, balanced, and melts in your mouth. 5/5... 10/10... 2 thumbs up ππ I'd say more but you really just need to come and try for yourself!
