Annie's Coogee

Went to Annie's on Saturday night for a friends birthday and it was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. It was a set menu and we were told we didn't have to order anything - they would just bring the food out. We had been sitting down for over an hour when they started bringing out a couple of garlic breads and pizzas (which we had to ask for). By the time it got to 2 hours we said not to bother as we had only received four pizzas and no pastas (which were on the set menu). The owner said we still had to pay 50pp despite getting the rest of the food in takeaway containers because we wanted to leave. Note: Our table was quite loud and disruptive which I definitely acknowledge. However, they knew we were coming and they should have prepared better. You should never have to wait for food that long. I also want the waitress who served us to know she was very lovely and it was not her fault at all.

Really disappointing experience at Annie's. Was looking forward to sharing my birthday with my closest friends at this restaurant. I looked around Coogee and it seemed the best place to have a birthday dinner at. It was the only BYO in Coogee I could find, had a reasonably priced menu and seemed a nice authentic Italian restaurant. Booked for 19 people 2 weeks in advance so more than adequate warning. Got called the afternoon of to confirm the booking which was fine. A little after arriving the staff indicated that we would no longer be able to order what we wanted but rather be a set menu which we had no issue with. The service was so slow, brought out a few garlic breads, a couple of bruschetta's, a few salads and a few pizzas. All this in 2 hours for 19 people. We had been there for 2 hours and had still not received the main meals (pasta's). Their reasoning being "we thought you guys were chilling." Yes we were enjoying our evening but you come to a restaurant to eat, I don't know what person would want their main meal past 9pm, over 2 hours after arrival. We were made to pay for food we didn't eat and ended up paying $50 a head. For $50 I had 2 slices of pizza and a slice of garlic bread, ridiculous.... So much for reasonably priced. Very disappointing. Although the lady who served our table was lovely, thank you.

Disappointed and overcharged. Pizza and pasta lacked flavour, but the house salad was decent. Unfortunately my gf and I both had stomach issues after the meal. Found a link for $5 off first online order directly through their site and opted to do this since it was merchant perferred. As I was about to order, I noticed the order didn't reflect the discount so I called and placed the order over the phone since they said they would honour it and was happy since they said they also do free delivery since we live right across the street, which is what I saw on the site also. To my surprise the bill came out more expensive than what was on their site at checkout with delivery, even with the $5 discount applied. I looked at the receipt and saw an extra $2 added to each of the items.. which is really sneaky. I ended up just paying the extra since I was hungry and didn't want to make a big deal about it. In the end, would have been okay not leaving a review, but since we didn't like the food, had stomach issues, and was sneakily overcharged, we felt gipped enough to write one. Overall, 3 stars including an extra star for their "free" delivery.

Horrible service, the manager can’t handle basic things like group bookings. Biggest let down, big claim to say “traditional Italian” aswell.

Went here for dinner at 7:30 and it took an hour just for the entree to come out. We asked the staff why it was taking so long and they said one of their chefs was away. While this is completely understandable, if we had been informed of this before we ordered we would of just gone somewhere else (as it ended up taking nearly 1 and a half hours for the food to come out). We ended up requesting the food be prepared as takeaway and took it home. Disappointing service but the food was enjoyable.

I guess this place used to be good but definitely not anymore. We booked a table and went there on time. No waiters or staff in the restaurant but only more than 15 customers staring at each other. If it’s a TV show, I can see question marks above everyone’s head. It’s very ridiculous. Don’t go and ruin your beach day.
