The best Pea and Ham Soup and Cram Burgers.
Cnr Meadow & James St 6055, Guildford
This place is unreal burgers where amazing. I had the cram and had EVERYTHING in it! And was massive!
This place is great, the food was yum. Staff friendly good service.
Basic steak burger is $9.70, Alfred special is $11.50 and Hawaiian special was $9. Very good price for very good burgers. I could smell either charcoal or wood burned fragrance, which I assume they use for cooking the meat and stuff. Very transitional way of cooking which I appreciate. Ambience is very vintage and I believe it is also an iconic place for “street” food. Love the vibe :)
Best burgers in town
Alfred's Kitchen is an iconic burger joint by the railway tracks at Guildford, Western Australia. This place was established in the 1940's. Apart from excellent burgers, their Pea and Ham soup is legendary. They cook on a wood-fired stove and there is a large firepit with seats around a decent sized wood-log open fire out the front -- wonderful in winter. In recent years an old railway restaurant carriage has been placed parallel to the main east-west railway line on its own rails. Regular trains Wizz past at speed very close to this restaurant carriage. Customers can sit at tables in the old carriage to eat what they've bought at Alfred's Kitchen (looks a hundred years old but refitted to purpose). The staff are really friendly and give great service. Everyone I know loves Alfred's Kitchen.
Bustling Friday night, nice steak burger. Will visit next time I'm in town.
I first tried this place about 10 years ago after hearing all the hype and seeing long lines of people outside. I understand now the long lines are just people waiting to get their food. I have been to this establishment a total of 3 times. After my 1st bad encounter I decided to give it another go a few years ago. Bad idea! Today I went back for my 3rd visit and remember now why it’s been years since my last visit. Why is this place so popular? I waited (as per my last 2 visits) more than 30 minutes for 1 hamburger & 1 chip. How is this even possible when 98% of your orders are probably hamburgers & chips. The hamburger was absolutely terrible. Tough, tasteless meat with less appeal than a middle school cafeteria burger. I’m not in the burger business but I no doubt could make a better burger on the bbq at home. Hard to believe there’s that many people in Perth with horrific taste in food to support this place staying in business. 1 star is way too generous.
The woman who served me today was one of the rudest people I have come across. She just started her shift so I don’t know what her excuse was. She acted as if she was doing me a favour rather then providing a service. I don’t know how this place is so popular with so many better burger places around. Took forever to get my meal even though I was the first customer and the place was pretty much empty. I thought the food might save the day, but it was awful. Unfortunately one star is even too much👎
Good n excellent burgers
A Perth institution. A great little place selling a variety of yummy food. They are known for their burgers, and their famous pea and ham soup. Has on site parking, toilets, seating, a refurbished train carriage for patrons to eat in and a firepit to keep you warm on the cooler nights.
