Mamak

366 Lonsdale St 3000, Melbourne

Being there 3 times and food is generally good but very limited choices so have to settle for the same few dishes. Ambience of restaurant is not great as everyone is jammed in as tightly as possible in small tables spaced very closely together

Killiney Kopitiam Bourke Street

108 Bourke St Shop 11 3000, Melbourne

Tried this places a few times now. First time had the nasi lemak fried chicken, serving was small, chicken was just a small drumstick. Second time had the char keow teow, taste was really good but serving size was very small for the price and had to wai 25minutes for the food to show up. Third time tried the nasi lemak with curry chicken and fried fish. The rice this time around was very heavy coconut flavour and tasted at odds with the rest of the food. The curry was very salty and the fried fish tasted dirty. I did notice they are doing Rojak now so I will go back to try that. So far the only good thing about this place has been the Kopi-O it's thick and very sweet, which is how I like it.

GO Noodle House Australia
4.0

195 Exhibition St 3000, Melbourne

New shop in Melbourne. Competitor will be Jojo. This shop allows credit card and the food is superb. The spicy sour soup added with vinegar give a different prospective of sour. We also tried the fish skin which is thinly fried, definitely not from the packet. Will go back one day to try others.

Red Hot Wok

69 Mitcham Rd 3111, Melbourne

Dropped by and had their Asam Laksa, it was GREAT, definitely the one of the best I've had in Melbourne. So if you are dying for an Asam Laksa and not flying back to Penang, check this place out.

Teh Tarik Corner 怀旧餐厅
4.3
/ 97

443 Elizabeth St 3000, Melbourne

Came here multiple times, and each time was a unique experience. The food cooked here is very homely and inexpensive. I've tried various dishes, but my favourite would be the Chicken Laksa, which at the time was $10 aud. Teh Tarik Corner wouldn't retain its name if it didn't have good Teh Tarik, hence I was obligated to try the Teh there. The hot Teh is pulled well and very frothy, the cold Teh has less amounts of ice and yet pretty darn cold (Not overly sweet to kill the taste of the food while pairing). The Teh is cheaper but around the same volume when compared to other Malaysian restaurants. The seating arrangement is ideal for a couple or a group of 4, NOT MORE. There is enough room on each table to fit 2 people and there are round about 8 tables enough for 16 - 20 individuals. I eat large sums of food, and a meal for two is usually under $50 and I'm not talking about just any meal. I'm talking a Roti Canai (Share) for entrée accompanied by some Teh Tarik (Individual) and finish it off with some Laksa/Nasi Goreng (Individual) If you're alone or with a friend, don't hesitate on stopping by for a meal. - David Sawang
