Tahini Lebanese Diner

518 Little Bourke St 3000, Melbourne

Dunno what happened to the other reviewers, but I've only had awesome experiences here. Trademark relaxed and friendly Code Black service and great food. They do get busy at lunchtime but the longest I've waited for a table was a few minutes, and service is incredibly swift.

284 Racecourse Rd Flemington 3031, Melbourne

Very nice Somali food. Not what I expected from the outside. Looks more like a burger joint. All the meat is very tender. Go there with a group so you can try them all. The green sauce is very hot.

The Left Handed Chef
4.6
/ 205

219 Park St Shop 2 3205, Melbourne

The Left Handed Chef is not a very assuming storefront or decor. It looks like a little out-of-the way cafe you find all over Melbourne. And then you try some of the food... The chef does an amazing job with his bread and cooking. His custom items such as the home-cooked corned beef, bacon jam or specialty eggs really bring the place together. The coffee isn't boutique roasts, it's reliable, well extracted, warm, pleasing and never burnt. And seriously, try the Ruben sandwich. Blew my mind. I've been a regular every few days ever since. And Ehood will come out and talk to customers regularly. He's friendly, approachable and the most relaxed chef I've ever met at a little cafe.

Good quality food at reasonable prices. The $10/$11 kebab & drink deal with dine-in option is a lunchtime winner.

Flemington Kebab House
4.0
/ 221

301 Racecourse Rd, Flemington 3031, Melbourne

The flemington Kebab house rocks! I'd be hard pressed to find any other kebab house that tastes as good as the kebabs here. The meat & salad is always fresh and they use Turkish bread instead of pita wraps. Wonderful!! If you go at lunchtime, there can easily be 10+ people waiting for food but don't let that put you off - they are going flat-nackers to get them made up and rarely takes more than 5 or 6 minutes even at the busiest of times.

Tulum Restaurant
4.1
/ 203

217 Carlisle Street, Balaclava Near the Balaclava train station 2575, Melbourne

We were fortunate to get a last minute booking for Tulum on a Friday night, and it was worth the effort. Every dish we ordered was great. Grilled eggplant with a delicious black sesame tahini, Jerusalem artichokes with artichoke chips and some wonderfully grilled prawns with the chef's mother's special sauce. The coffee roasted olives sounded a bit weird, but the flavours really worked. And the beef cheeks, oh so good. They just fell to pieces on the plate, and came with a wonderful corn and Tulum cheese accompaniment. The wine list was great too, including some Turkish options. The service was a bit haphazard last night, it seemed like maybe someone had called in sick, but the chef came out to greet everyone and ask how the meal was. Overall, the food was great, and for what we ate (and drank) it was great value. Highly recommended!
