The staff are awesome here. Really awesome. and the smell of the restaurant is incredible. Venue wise, it's fantastic. The place is great. Has a real 'power lunch' kind of feel. But the food and drinks menu is a little on the over-hyped side. It's fancy curry, essentially, but I wonder how much better it is than a really decent curry house. I kind of found the whole food side of Tonka pretty underwhelming.

I had a friend recommend this place to me once and it was pretty good. The atmosphere was great and the food was incredibly fresh. It wasn't as flavourful as I would normally like my Indian, but the freshness made up for it. The icecream was awesome and the beer selection is great. However, their customer service is less than great. I had booked a table here for a family dinner and had to cancel. I gave 24 hours notice and was given a hard time for canceling! I'd understand if I called up a few hours before hand, but you discourage people from giving notice it all with that kind of behaviour.

Wow! Just opened June 21st, 2019 and definitely now in my top 3 of best restaurants in Melbourne! The “Australian-Indian” cuisine integrated the best tasting flavors/textures of Indian food without any heavy sauces. The 8 course tasting menu was only $55 and about $150 of delicious food was served in the 7-8 courses. Beautiful ambiance, friendly/quick service and great owner (Jessie) who came by all the tables on a regular basis to explain the fascinating dishes. Get here quick before the rest of Melbourne learns about this place!

A unique dining experience. Good choice with Indian (North and South), Chinese (Not Indo-chinese) and Malaysian. I was a bit confused that no one came to take order but then informed by a waiter that I need to order at the counter. Once ordered, the food was on plate within minutes. The food quality was good (not great).
