Black Bear Lodge

1/322 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley

Saw a live band here in autumn and it was very hot inside. They finally turned on some fans near the end of the gig, but they should have known better..

Icinghill
4.2
/ 155

1 Commercial Rd, Fortitude Valley

A mere 5 minutes walk from James St, this cafe has great potential to shine. It offers fresh and delicious breakfast and lunch options at a reasonable price. The highlight though, would have to be the selection of cakes on offer. The store atmosphere is modern and there is plenty of natural lighting.

Fullmoon Bar & Restaurant

New Thai restaurant with bar and live music opening in Chinatown, Brisbane

Agnes Restaurant

22 Agnes St, Fortitude Valley

Worth the wait in line. Tried about 5 of their baked goods (savoury and sweet) and they were all so flakey and delicious! Very aesthetic looking store as well.

Ginga “Emporium” (Fortitude Valley)
4.1
/ 135

1000 Ann St, Fortitude Valley

Ginga Sushi is a solid Japanese restaurant. There's a big sushi train that runs through the restaurant and office workers fill all the tables that line the big sushi train. It's popular so you should go early. I tried to the Eel (Unagi) on rice. I mixed a tonne of wasabi with soy sauce and poured this over the rice as the dish can be a bit bland otherwise. The Eel was nice but over sauced. It would have melted in my mouth otherwise. My colleagues had the Chicken Katsu Udon which seemed to go down well. A solid effort but not sure if I would return. I think I prefer to spend my dough on grilled - the burger joint across the road. I am missing the quality and value of Sydney Japanese! I went to Ginga Sushi with my work colleagues in Brisbane - a shout out to Lisa, Sinead and Brendon. We've just hired someone in the Sydney office and word on the street is that he resembles Brendon so I closely studied Brendon's face. I will have to stare down the new employee as well to see if the rumour rings true. I can't see it!

Cute bar. Questionable charging for drinks and disinterested bar staff. Great happy hour pricing though - $5/pint. Reasonable food.

Halo Ground Coffee and Food

100 Brookes St, Fortitude Valley

Love this place! Such a funky/trendy new coffee place right in between The Emporium, Brookes Street & Ann street. Delicious coffee, seating inside and out, awesome staff (super friendly, welcoming and always remember my name) Won't go anywhere else while I'm living in The Emporium. Thanks so much peeps!

Lord of the Fries
4.3
/ 104

3a/352 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley

The Fortitude Valley store does the Lord of the Fries name proud. If you're ordering from the classic burgers, get the chicken. It's on another level. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The food is tasty. The value for money is comparable to other places in the valley. The art is so fun. I have no criticisms! The size of the shop means it's more suited to take away. They have a couple of small booths but you wouldn't fit a large group in. I am definitely going to visit again. It was a trial day today so the full menu wasn't available. Check their social media for when they're open cause it's not consistent while they're opening the store. UPDATE: I went again today and they are officially open!

Balti Biryani

shop 214, Mcwhiter's building, 270/290 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley

Well, the place for Hyderabad biriyani. But the staff isn't co-operative. They doesn't even give an extra box if we ask to for separating food for convenience.

Pleasantly surprised with this newly opened restaurant in Central Brisbane. Went out to Dine In with friends, the range of Indian food they are serving is amazing, service top class, ambience top class, Chef Aman brought out a Veggie Pizza out to our table, this was cherry on the top for us. We will be returning back again, wish they continue to serve this quality food.
