Mr Ramen San serves up some of Melbourne's best ramen, located in Mid City Arcade in the precinct of Chinatown. This is truly authentic Japanese ramen restaurant! Craving steaming flavour packed ramen? Head Chef Roystan Leow has been trained by Japanese maters in Ramen and has worked in high profile restaurants. According to Roystan, "What you get in Japan in terms of ramen, we produce here. Authenticity." Roystan brings the influences of Kyushu, a charming southern precinct of Japan to Melbourne. The Kyushu style is about pork bones in white broth, signature at Mr Ramen San. Mr Ramen San delights with a Japanese greeting as you enter, making customers feel welcome from the start. Mr Ramen San boasts several points of difference to the usual ramen scenario. For a start they serve up fresh house made Japanese style noodles daily; for ramen enthusiasts you can tell the quality of noodles and it makes a big difference. Not only that but unlike other ramen houses, Mr Ramen San will provide you with FREE extra noodles on request! The serves of noodles in the dishes are generous enough as it is; so extra noodles for free is a great innovation for hungry customers! Charsu Tonkatsu Ramen is a signature dish that rewards you with it's white cloudy broth; intense in flavour having been cooked for over 10 hours. As Ramen lovers know, it's all in the broth! There are no shortcuts in the cooking process (ie no soup stock from any supplier and definitely no MSG) and Roystan has a great passion for cooking authentic ramen. The Charsu roast pork is melt in your mouth, and the seasoned egg, wood ear mushroom and greens give a refreshing accompaniment. The World Loves Melbourne considers this dish the best ramen in Melbourne.

Hidden spot for a bowl of satisfaction 🍜 The broth was full of aroma, rich and smooth, coated noodles well. Pork (available in vegetarian version) gyoza was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, perfect! Stop by and hope you enjoy a short travel there =)

Delicious light broth and fantastic thin noodles, plus Sapporo on tap. Everything about it reminds me of being in a little ramen shop in Japan. A delight. Enter through the Arcade on Little Bourke Street.

A little ramen store inside a building, don’t let the surroundings fool you! Food comes incredibly quickly and if there is a queue, it moves fast. It’s not that spacious so large groups might have limited tables but lots of seating for couples and a bar area for solo diners. Staff are very friendly and won’t rush you.

The food here is spectacular. Their vegetarian and vegan options are really wonderful and the staff and service are equally so. There may be a wait if you go at peak times, but it's always worth it I promise.

A popular, cozy, casual restaurant, tucked away in an arcade, that specialized in Ramen. I think Melbourne is quite blessed with many great Ramen places, this is undoubtedly one of them. The broth is full of flavor, but not as thick and gelatinous as some other Ramen places in Melbourne. Noodles are firm and "slurpable". Friendly staff with prompt service.

One of the best Tonkotsu ramen I've ever had in Australia. The soup was very tasty and full of flavour! Not a very heavy and thick Tonkotsu but somehow the flavour balance was perfect and had a nice complexity to it. Noodles were thin and firm. We tried the spicy tonkotsu as well and it had a good kick to it and added more flavour than just being spicy. They have a very comprehensive variety of condiments on the side including chilli powder, chilli oil, sesame and even minced garlic! And that's on every table, you don't have to ask for it. Bonus: you can even order extra noodles so make sure you save some soup for that. Gyoza was great too. Very flavourful and the skin is so very thin and light. Felt like we were back in Japan. Would love to come back again!

I love the broth as it is flavorful and rich. The noodles is not too hard or soft, just nice for it to soak in the flavors of the soup.

Great ramen. It strikes a good balance for a tonkotsu broth - not too rich. Get in early or be prepared to queue. It’s worth the wait though.
