Set in the historic Savoy picture theatre building, Avalon Restaurant & Cocktail Bar at Katoomba combines playful art-deco charm with hearty food, friendly service and spectacular Blue Mountains views. Located on main street Katoomba, enter the historic Savoy picture theatre foyer and make your way past the ticket booth and up the stairs. The restaurant inhabits the dress circle of the old theatre, and offers a decor of quirky retro finds and spectacular mountain views over Leura and the Jamison Valley. Meals are prepared in the old projection room, and cocktails and retro tunes are served in the former refreshment lounge, now a cosy bar complete with roaring fireplace. The art deco architecture is complemented by an eclectic collection of furnishings and artwork. The style of service is casual and friendly. Fully licensed.

An eclectic conversion of the Savoy Theatre with 3 levels. We were in the upstairs dining room with live jazz music.

Good eating experience you can have ever. Especially I enjoyed the beef korokke.

This place is fabulous. Visited on a Monday night and was greeted with warm and friendly service. The menu is varied with a great choice of specials... and the cocktail list is delicious. It's quirky decoration make this place a "must" to any Katoomba visitor. Can't wait to return.

We had a great dinner. The lamb was superb. A dessert to die for. And friendly, helpful staff. I heartily recommend this place.

Absolutely gorgeous place to dine! Lunch time Sunday with a party of 10 +4 kids - and we couldn't have chosen a better place. It felt like we walked back in time and we loved every minute of it. The staff were friendly, service excellent and the food was delicious. Will definitely return

This restaurant is a must see. Very quirky lots to look at. Went there on a Monday night with my mum and it was packed. Food was very warm and hearty. It was the highlight of our two day getaway. Will be back for sure.

Was there Monday night 29.3.21. Sort of quirky but nice atmosphere. There is a view if seated at the far end of the dining room. We ordered steak. Accompanying wedges were nice. The leathery grey skin on the steak made it look slightly unpalatable. The mushroom sauce was a tad too sweet

Loved it. Food was great. Walking into the restaurant it was like walking into time. You have to book a table but I didn't know, anyhow they found a table for us. The staff looked after us. I give this restaurant a 10/10. Who ever goes will enjoy it

Great ambience and staff. Food tasty enough but incredibly overpriced. Had the beef bourguinon special . Tasty enough but very small serving of actual bourguinon disguised with ample serving of vegetables - for thirty nine dollars. Entree special of prawns and scallops also tiny. Dessert of price and apricot pudding tough and stodgy. Great selection of wines and craft beers!
