Best Fish & Chips in Adelaide. Hand cut chips are to die for. Great service in a very nice shop, long line-ups often but well worth the wait.
I was disappointed, the beach front hotel had the beach front dining area closed. The pub side was just a pub. Admittedly we didn't stay here for dinner, what's the point without the beach side dining.
This place was listen on an eatability directory as gluten free friendly, so when sully's on Semaphore (also gluten free friendly) wasn't open mondays when we visited, and we spotted this place across the road we gave it a shot. we walked in and asked whether they had gluten free options. the girl said "sure" she gave us menus, which were very confusing and didnt seem to actually list any actual dishes. when we asked what was gluten free, she thought it meant no cheese or perhaps dairy, and gave us one option but went to ask the chef about the soup. It was apparently GF. after correcting her about her notion of cheese being an issue we ordered a salad and the soup. we were then relieved to see the kitchen knew what they were doing, as the soup arrived with gluten free bread (from the semaphore bakery and amazingly delish!) The soup was just scrumptious, and the salad was a veritable treasure trove of tasty things. generous amounts of walnuts, avocado, carrot, egg, cheese, tomato and carrot that i recall atop a leafy bed of non bitter lettuce. One of the best salads i've had in a long time and the kitchen staff happily answered my questions about salad dressings etc.
I chose a chicken,lettuce,homemade mayo and avocado baguette (they had run out of the turkey and cranberry baguette which I had wanted to order). Was really disappointed with what they served up. Have no idea where the "homemade mayo" was and as for the avocado, well 2 very small slivers on top. Basically the baguette was stuffed full with lettuce (some which was turning brown) and bugger all else.
Reply to Sam Livingstone. The Fed is a popular and established Live Music Venue. We host live bands every Saturday night 8.30pm to 0.30am and Sundays 4pm to 8pm. We also host Karaoke every Thursday night 8pm to Midnight. In addition we have Music Video playing constantly on multiple Widescreens throughout the hotel. You may care to visit and rethink your review.
